Collect deposits online,
right after they sign.
A deposit tied to a signed agreement is commitment. A verbal yes is a hope. DocOtto sends the Stripe deposit request the moment the signature lands, so every job starts with skin in the game.
No deposit, no commitment
Work scheduled on a verbal yes gets cancelled, rescheduled, and no-showed. And payment collected after the work is done arrives late or gets disputed.
No-shows and cancellations
Customers with nothing on the line change their minds. You blocked the calendar, staged the crew, and the job evaporated.
Chasing payment after the work
Finish the job, send an invoice, wait, remind, wait. Collecting after delivery means you carry the risk the whole way.
Deposits with no paper trail
A deposit collected over the phone with no signed agreement behind it is a dispute waiting to happen. What exactly did they pay for?
Signature first, deposit second
The order matters. The payment is always attached to a signed scope and price.
The customer signs the agreement
The agreement spells out the scope, the price, and the deposit amount. They sign it online, fully ESIGN compliant.
The deposit request follows
Right after signing, the customer is taken to Stripe checkout for the deposit. No separate email, no payment link to lose.
The money lands in your Stripe
Connect your own Stripe account once. Deposits go straight to you, with Stripe handling cards, receipts, and refunds.
The board shows paid
The deal card on your pipeline updates the moment the deposit clears. You can see at a glance which jobs are committed and which are still talk.
Deposits are one step in a bigger flow
The same workflow that collects the deposit also captured the request, quoted the price, and got the signature. One system from intake to signed and paid, with a Living Link status page keeping the customer informed.
Frequently asked questions
- How do customers pay the deposit?
- Through Stripe checkout, right after they sign the agreement. Cards and the payment methods you enable in Stripe are supported, and the receipt comes from Stripe.
- Do I need a Stripe account?
- Yes. You connect your own Stripe account once, and every deposit goes directly to it. DocOtto never holds your money.
- Can I set the deposit amount per job?
- Yes. Use a flat amount, a percentage of the quoted price, or the full amount. The quoted price from the intake form can drive the math.
- What if the customer signs but does not pay?
- The deal card shows exactly that state: signed, deposit outstanding. You can see who owes what at a glance and follow up before scheduling the work.
- How are refunds handled?
- Through your Stripe dashboard, like any Stripe payment. The signed agreement in DocOtto documents what the deposit was for.
